Who is The Optimistic RPh?
Michael is a licensed pharmacist with over a decade of clinical experience and currently serves as Manager and a shareholder at Macdonald’s Prescriptions - an independent pharmacy recognized for its expertise and patient-first approach in Vancouver. A 2014 graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Michael has built a career defined by integrity, innovation, and a commitment to optimizing long-term health.
For Michael, health has always been more than a profession - it’s a philosophy. Raised in a Greek household where food, movement, and wellness were sacred values, he was deeply influenced by his father’s teachings on nutrition and the Hippocratic principle, “Let food be thy medicine.” This foundation led him to pursue electives in nutrition at UBC and continues to shape his clinical approach, emphasizing prevention, education, and lifestyle optimization.
Beyond formal training, Michael has devoted hundreds of hours to studying performance, recovery, and metabolic health through leading voices such as Dr. Peter Attia, Dr. Andrew Huberman, Dr. Andy Galpin, and Dr. Layne Norton. Like them, he believes in translating complex science into practical, evidence-based strategies that bridge the gap between research and real life.
Today, Michael’s work extends beyond the dispensary. Through The Optimistic RPh, he is building a science-based education platform that empowers people to take control of their sleep, stress, nutrition, and exercise using systems grounded in research - not hype.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys playing ice hockey and golf, reading about health, human behaviour, and history, and collecting music. His mission - both in pharmacy and online - is to make science accessible and actionable, helping others achieve real, lasting health through clarity, consistency, and trust.
